Blogging Challenge: Day 4 and Some Updates
Ok, so it is Day 4 of the Commenting challenge over at Jenna’s Journey. If you missed my initial post on this, I am challenging myself to get out there more this week and get in touch with other blogs…

I have learned a lot so far by looking at more and more websites. I have some revisions that I would like to make to my site as well. First tasks to come in my to do list is some better organization, a way to highlight top posts, and lastly the dreaded headshot
I have also been working on editing some of my “random thoughts”/deeper thoughts posts. One of my most popular posts was My Letter to the Working Mothers who came before me…I am aiming to get more things like that out to share soon.
So…On to Today’s Topic:
Tell us about your hobbies! What do you do in your free time? What are your favorite books, movies, music etc?
I might be the most scattered person around because my interests are definitely pretty varied. I don’t feel like I have a ton of free time…but I am trying to get better about making time for myself and my own interests. I am going to focus on the hobbies and activities I do for myself, as opposed to do with the kids. Which is weird, but I will try!
I love to attempt to be crafty particularly needlepointing and crocheting (no, I am not 80!). It is something that my mom, grandmother, aunts, cousins and I have all done, so I like to think that it connects us a bit. I prefer crafts where you follow a pattern, any creativity sends me running. Most of the items that I have made over the years are gifts for friends or family’s babies.
My favorites to make are needlepoint baby blocks:

Next up is cooking…my favorite things to make are Italian foods - especially homemade pasta, sauces, etc. I also get REALLY excited to cook with my fresh veggies from our CSA program and our fruits from our various fruit picking extravaganzas (strawberries, blueberries, apples, etc.). I am not a great baker because I am pretty impatient and always seem to make something, or I am not able to make something pretty in the end. I am inspired by the ridiculous pinterest desserts, so maybe this will change!
I love to read, and switch it up between magazines and books. My favorite book is Gone with the Wind…I like more historical novels as I am a bit of a history nerd. I do not read on an e-Reader, and depend on the library for most books. I usually go through the NY Times bestseller list and request books, and will read whatever comes up. I also asked on the MMB Facebook Page what people were reading to help generate recommendations. Right now I am reading Discovery of Witches.
I am so not a music person…I love to have it on and listen/sing along, but I rarely know who I am listening to. Sad but true. My favorites are Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and Garth Brooks. Theirs are pretty much the only songs I would recognize. Pathetic, right?

Those baby blocks are precious! I wish I could crochet – it’s on my list of things to learn (someday). Two of my all-time favorite baby shower gifts were crocheted blankets given to me by friends (one for each boy). The fact they were hand-made makes them so much more special than anything that came from the store!
I also love the baby blocks! They are adorable and homemade gifts are so meaningful. I am with you with cooking opposed to baking. I just don’t have the patience for baking, but love to try new recipes!
So totally excited to see that Bruce is on your list! Love learning new things about you!
HA! Born and raised Jersey girl
BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!
Thank you! someone made the baby blocks for ME when I was a baby, and I have replicated them many times over the years. It gives me so much joy to see a picture of a friends little one playing with them or them telling me that their kids like the gifts even after years have passed
Patience is definitely the thing that I lack the most about baking – ha!
