In the theme of back to school, here is my school mommy brain moment!
To celebrate kicking off preschool, I made this adorable pencil cake which I found in my Food Network Magazine (instructions are online as well). The cake was very easy to make and my son was all about his “preschool cake” (notice the fingerprints??). I wasn’t planning on posting this one…
Until I said, ok, wait right there, and let me get my camera and take a picture. It was going to be a proud, treasured picture…I turned around, got my camera, and turned back ready to snap, and found this:
Now really…Mommy Brain, Boys, and CAKES don’t mix. Will I ever learn with this one???

Awe….he LOVED it so much he couldn’t help it. I am impressed with the cake. You ARE MARTHA! That is a better picture than you could have hoped for with just the cake
Agreed! This is very Martha-esque and the “no hands” chowing down of the cake makes me like it even more!
You ladies are kind…far from martha over here (hello store bought pound cake!) – but he loved the cake. And really – the “no hands” – I guess it was a hit
